Prof. Dr. Nilgün ALPTEKİN DEMİRKOL

Prof. Dr. Nilgün Alptekin Demirkol was born in Bayburt in 1957, completed her high school education at Istanbul Bilir College and graduated from Yıldız Technical University, Department of Chemical Engineering in 1983. After completing her specialization with a thesis titled “Liver lipid peroxide and glutathione levels induced by choledochal duct ligation in rats” at the Department of Biochemistry of Istanbul University, which she started in 1984, she worked as a researcher in the Gastroenterology and Peptide research laboratories at Tulane University (New Orleans) in the United States for 2 years.

She completed her doctorate, which she started in the Department of Biochemistry of Istanbul University in 1991, with a thesis titled “Comparison of methods used in the measurement of lipid peroxides”. She received the title of Associate Professor of Biochemistry in 1997 and Professor of Biochemistry on 17.3.2005. She served as the associate professor representative of the Faculty Board for 2 years between 2004-2005. Between 1.8.2005-1.11.2005, she participated in the Mass Spectrophotometer measurement of Isoprostanes, a free radical marker, and Mass Spectrophotometer training at W.A. Royal Perth Hospital in Australia.

Prof. Dr. Nilgün Alptekin Demirkol, who has served as a referee in international journals, is a member of the Turkish Biochemistry Association, Istanbul Branch, Free Radicals and Antioxidants Research Association
Society for Free Radical Research-Europe (SFRR) scientific associations.

She has a total of 23 articles, 18 of which are international, and has presented at 33 conferences, 11 of which are international. Prof. Dr. Nilgün Alptekin Demirkol, who has 103 citations to her international articles, is married and speaks English.
